The counterattack fell heavily on the Leicestershire Regiment when two platoons of its A Company were overrun – and six German tanks then broke through. The Germans continued the attack until the evening when they had withdrawn having suffered heavy losses in men as well as having thirteen tanks and Self propelled guns knocked out in total.
